The 24th Coordinator Meeting (CDM) of the Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (FNCA) was held on March 12-13, 2024 at Mita Conference Hall, co-hosted by Japan Atomic Energy Commission(JAEC) and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). All 12 member countries, i.e. Australia, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan participated, as well as the IAEA/RCA Regional Office and Singapore as observers.
On the first day of the meeting, there was a discussion on FNCA's project activities, where they reviewd and discussed the outcomes of projects, proposals for continuation, and so on.
On the second day of the meeting, a comprehensive evaluation of project activities was discussed, and it was decided that all projects with proposals for continuation would continue. Additionally, since 2024 will be the 25th anniversary year of FNCA's founding, the FNCA Secretariat reported on 25th anniversary commemorative events, and it was agreed that member countries would cooperate to make the commemorative event a success. In addition, the resumption of the FNCA Award, which recognizes researchers who have participated in projects that have led to outstanding results was shared.
Finally, the meeting's draft “Conclusions and Recommendations'' was introduced by the Chairperson, FNCA Japan Coordinator Dr. Tamada. Then the final version was shared after comments and confirmation by coordinators of member countries.
